Final Artist Statement #1

Overall I found that the message I intended to communicate through my Zine was received well and accurately. The message I put into my work was the beauty of travel and the cultures of other countries. The way I layered each piece and cut out different parts to make all the pieces fit together seamlessly made me extremely satisfied with my work. My idea evolved greatly from the sprout and blossomed from stacking pictures side by side to integrating each of the individual pictures into a cohesive piece. When I discussed my idea I planned on using a Sharpie to make dotted lines to indicate traveling from place to place but after discussing it further I was able to lay out all of my art and make a consecutive dotted white line that popped and made the art much more aesthetically pleasing. When the class was analyzing my art they immediately recognized the white dotted line to represent the traveling from one country to the next. They identified that each photo was a country because they spotted the hidden flag in each photo. The photos showed different nature, landscapes, cities, and landmarks of each country. I intentionally included specific photos that represent the cities, tourist hotspots, and representations of their culture. After finishing this project I was extremely satisfied with my work and the time and effort that I tirelessly put into it. I feel that that the time and effort I put into this project was shown in the art.
